A huge tragedy occurred in a gated community for adults in South Carolina. An 88-year-old woman fell into a pond where an alligator lurked. Unfortunately, she did not survive.

An elderly woman was killed by an alligator in the gated community of Sun City Hilton Head. 88-year-old Nancy Becker fell into a pond where a dangerous animal was lurking. This year, it is the fourth confirmed fatal alligator attack in the United States and the second in South Carolina.

Unable to get out of the trap

As the sheriff's office reported in a press release, emergency services retrieved Nancy Becker's body around 1pm. Authorities admitted that on Monday morning a resident of Sun City Hilton Head was gardening near a pond when she suddenly fell into the water. Major Angela Viens of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office reported that members of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources are doing their best to capture the pet.

The alligator has been identified as a male almost 3 meters long. He was eventually captured from a pond on Monday afternoon, officials said, and killed.

Sun City Hilton Head is a vast community of over 16,000 active elderly residents. Major Angela Viens estimates there are over 200 ponds and lagoons in the commune.

On June 24, another South Carolina resident was killed by an alligator near a pond just outside Myrtle Beach.

This year in Florida there were two more fatal alligator attacks. The victims were: a 47-year-old man (attack occurred on May 31) and an 80-year-old woman who fell into a pond near a golf course on July 15.

The body of 47-year-old Sean Thomas McGuinness was found without three limbs in a lake in Florida. An elderly woman, identified as Rose Marie Wiegand, fell into a pond and was then attacked by two alligators.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission admits, however, that despite these terrible stories, alligator attacks on humans are very rare. They add that you are more likely to be attacked by a grizzly bear in Yellowstone National Park than by an alligator in Florida.

Alligators can be found all along the South Coast and parts of the East Coast of the United States, but are the most common in Louisiana and Florida. They also live in some wetlands in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Over the weekend, Katie Long was heading to Mountain View, Arkansas, when she suddenly noticed a little creature screaming in the middle of the road. It turned out that there was a small, wet and scared kitten standing in the street. The woman knew she had to help him.

Searching for mom

Katie had a feeling the kitten's mom was somewhere nearby, but when she searched the small town she started to lose hope. Meanwhile, the restless little one completely clung to her – he didn't want to be alone so much.

We walked around trying to find mum, unfortunately without success. When I put the little kitten on the ground, she immediately came back to me crying. It touched me a lot. Says Katie Long.

Katie also went to the local convenience store and asked people eating lunch outside, or maybe they don't know something about lost kitties. Unfortunately, no one knew about them.

After a long time of unsuccessful searching, Katie has finally come to terms with the fact that she will probably have to drop her cat off at a local animal shelter. She was trying to find a facility when suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a man walking to his mailbox. Not knowing why, some inner voice told her that she should come up to him and talk. I ran out of the car with a kitten in my arms. I asked him if he had any idea where her family was. And he said, “Oh yeah, I think Bill's kitten just had kittens!” – says Katie Long.

And soon the cat reunited with her family!

When the cat's mother saw the baby, she was extremely happy that she got her missing child back.

I put her on the ground and my mother immediately started to nurture and feed her. – admits Katie Long.

An Aries named Huxley longed for a better life for 10 years. At the New Jersey Zoo, which was his home, he lay pressed against the fence surrounding his pen 24 hours a day. Huxley desperately needed help

No he took refuge and suffered from a forelimb injury. The sight of him kept me awake at night. He suffered so much. I promised him that I would do anything to get him out of there. We made an urgent proposal to the district commissioners to release Huxley, and as soon as they accepted it, we brought Huxley home to UNH. – says Rian Feldman.

A complete examination at the vet showed that the ram suffered from severe osteoarthritis, which required steroid injections , laser therapy and painkillers.

Now he is finally happy

On December 23, 2021, Huxley was finally on his way home in which he is finally happy. Now he finally has the life he always deserved. He's no longer depressed. Now he is smiling in the pasture with his friends.

Huxley is very happy and calm. Upon arriving at the sanctuary, he immediately felt at home and our other animals immediately fell in love with him. He is happy, loved and wakes up every morning with a new joy in life that he did not have before being released. – says Rian Feldman.
