Fish with too long teeth
A puffer like Goldie has teeth that stick together like a single large tooth. This tooth never stops growing to compensate for the heavy wear and tear caused by the shellfish diet.
Goldie always chews on the hard shells. But for some reason, in recent months, her teeth had been growing faster than they should have been before they rubbed off, making them too long. Mark was concerned that this would make it difficult for her to eat eventually, so he took her to the experts at the Sandhole Veterinary Center for professional help.
Treatment time
Goldie was sedated so that the vets could do their job without unnecessarily stressing the fish. Soon her overgrown tooth was carefully trimmed.
We used a fish-safe anesthetic and Nurse Debbie kept her in a towel, repeatedly placing her back in the water. – wrote the clinic.
The operation was a success – and Goldie gained a much healthier smile

Treatment by a vet makes Goldie much easier to eat. However, this is not the end of the reasons why the fish are happy.
