Evie and Leslie Benson were returning home from shopping when they noticed a small brown object in the distance. It soon turned out to be a terrified little dog that was in serious danger. Cars were passing next to him, and he could have been hit at any moment.
A dog that rubbed himself to death
When a large truck passed by, we closed our eyes in terror. We were sure she was going to hit him. Fortunately, the dog disappeared from the road just in time. – says Evie Benson.
This little dog rubbed to death, but luckily Evie knew exactly what to do in this situation.
My fight for his life began the moment I jumped out of my car. Soon the dog was safe in the back seat of my car. Says Evie Benson.
“He fell asleep in my arms.”
The doggy was dirty and very thin, but despite his condition, he did not stop wagging his tail for a moment.
I was devastated at the thought of what this little dog had gone through and how scared and lonely he was. While driving the car, he fell asleep in my arms and then I cried. I just wanted him to know he was safe after all. Evie Benson said.
Soon Evie and Leslie took the pooch to the Goochland County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, where he was immediately accepted.
The next day Evie Benson she returned to the shelter to check how the little dog she saved was doing. She wasn't sure if the dog would remember her, but as soon as she arrived, he immediately jumped into her arms.
Here are the Wags
We were sitting in the room with him, and that's when the emotions came. My mom and I started crying. I sat down next to him on the floor and he curled up in my lap, lay down on top of me and hugged me. He was so happy then. – recalls Evie Benson.
Soon Evie Benson came up with the perfect doggy name – she named it Wags because no matter what – he was always wagging his tail.
Evie still can't believe that many drivers ignored the Wags and passed right by. However, she is very happy that the pooch is finally getting the care he needs so badly. And although he leaves for college in the fall and cannot adopt him, he knows perfectly well that Wags will quickly find his dream family.
This It breaks my heart that I cannot adopt him. Fortunately, the shelter got many messages, phone calls and inquiries about Libra. I know he will have no trouble finding a home. Says Evie.
Benson knows he'll never forget Wags
We have established a bond for life and I love him very much. I'm glad that I managed to save him. – Evie added.
