Alexandria was browsing the Arizona Humane Society website when she suddenly noticed a picture of a black and white pit bull named Wyatt that immediately caught her eye. The 10-year-old immediately felt that it would be the perfect dog for her family.
He's the one!
When just saw Wyatt, she started crying immediately. She just knew it was the one. She said to me, “He will take good care of us, Mother. If we adopt him, I promise I will love him forever and take good care of him. – says Angela, the girl's mother.
Angela told her daughter that they should wait a while before adopting the dog, but Alexandria kept checking Wyatt's profile to make sure he was still available for adoption – in case her mom changed her mind.
Wyatt joined the Arizona Humane Society thanks to Project Reachout
We work with many other shelters. Thanks to our program, we are able to save over a thousand dogs, cats and other animals. Says Kelsey Dickerson, spokesman for the Arizona Humane Society.
Positive and loving attitude
Wyatt came to the Arizona Humane Society in May where he was treated for kennel cough, which primarily affects dogs in groups. As soon as he felt better, he immediately won the hearts of the entire staff, all thanks to his positive and loving attitude.
Everyone who knew him described him as sweet, positive and energetic. – admits Kelsey Dickerson.
Without Alexandria knowing , her mom had a secret meeting with Wyatt
As soon as I met him, I knew he would be perfect for our family. – says Angela.
After meeting the pooch, Angela immediately signed the adoption documents and took him to her daughter's school to surprise her.
When Alexandria left the classroom and saw Wyatt, initially did not understand what was happening. It wasn't until her mother showed her the adoption papers that she finally realized that Wyatt was now part of their family. The girl immediately cried out with happiness.

From that day, Wyatt and Alexandria are inseparable
We take him with us everywhere – to the grocery store, on a hike, swimming and lots of walks during the day. This sweet, loving boy knows a lot of tricks. He is very eager to help and loves to cuddle. – admits Angela.
Angela couldn't be happier that her daughter now has such a wonderful companion who greets her every day when she comes home from school.
