When Colleen Harrison and her family adopted a tiny kitten named Casper, they weren't quite sure how their dogs would react to him. Usually a female dog named Minnie loved looking after the tiny animals, but as soon as their other dog, Rex, met Casper, it was literally love at first sight!
“He's only mine!”
Rex is much younger than Minnie and loves to play. It soon turned out that he and Casper were very similar. They love to fool around with each other as well as cuddle with each other – so much so that when someone else wanted to play with the kitten, Rex was not happy about it. As if to say, “He's only mine!”
At first, Rex didn't like anyone approaching a kitten. He was very protective of him. It is the same for our children. Every time a kitten or our kids are out of Rex's sight or in another room he can't get to, he just sits and squeaks. Says Colleen Harrison.
Sometimes Rex even tried to hide his beloved kitten from the rest of the family – but unfortunately Casper is a little too mobile to go unnoticed.
@ colleenraney53 Ya'll this dog loves our new kitten. ❤ Rex follows Casper around everywhere, licks him, cuddles him, and plays with him. I am beginning to think he really thinks this kitten is his baby. 🤣 # kitten #dog #animalfriends #pets

Rex loves Casper so much that he initially did not want to share with no one else. Now things are starting to change a bit and the pooch is no longer so possessive of the kitten. Of course I want to spend most of my time with him anyway!
Now Rex doesn't mind others playing with the kitten anymore, but he still has eye on him. – adds Colleen Harrison.
As soon as Rex and Casper met, they immediately became best friends on all their lives and their family is very excited to see them grow up together and have a great time.
