A female dog tied to a hydrant with a leash. Next to it was a backpack with her favorite things and a note

Last weekend a female dog named Baby Girl sat quietly in the grass on a street in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Someone tied her with a leash to the fire hydrant. The dog was noticed by Kylie Rose Engelhardt, who initially thought she might just be waiting behind her owner.

Abandoned with a backpack of favorite things and heartbreaking with a note

Kylie Rose Engelhardt decided to stop to make sure she was okay

I sat outside with her for an hour and waited for someone to come back for her. However, this did not happen. – wrote Kylie Rose Engelhardt on Facebook.

Next to Baby Girl was a backpack filled with all her favorite things – food, treats and toys as well as a heart-breaking note. It was then that Kylie realized that this sweet little girl had been abandoned. So she took her to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

My heart was broken. I did everything in my power to help her. Kylie admitted.

“In what he did, we also saw love ”

The Wisconsin Humane Society posted a sympathetic statement on Facebook directly to the former owner of Baby Girl. The shelter explained that they understand how difficult it is to leave your dog when you know you can no longer care for him.

We know how difficult it is for someone to part with their beloved pet and how traumatic it can also be for the owner. We really wanted the owner to know that we are not judging him. We also saw love in what he did. – admits Angela Speed.

And here is the hostel's statement:

First of all, we are so sorry that you had to part with your best friend. You can see that you loved her very much and gave it your best, struggling with your own health problems and life challenges. We see love in all of this. You have carefully packed a bag with all her favorite things for Baby Girl. You have secured her leash so she will not be hit by a car. You left her in a place where she can be found quickly. You had to take care of her because Baby Girl is healthy, affectionate and happy. We see your love in the letter you left begging someone for help. – wrote the shelter.

Baby Girl will be available for adoption in the coming days. Meanwhile, the sweet female dog is being hugged by the shelter staff, getting ready for a second chance in a loving home.
